How to install PufferCut on Shopify
Install PufferCut from the Shopify App Store, review permissions, and open the app from Shopify admin.
PufferCut is installed from the Shopify App Store and opened from Shopify admin. The app uses Shopify permissions to read product data, create video previews, create finished videos, and save completed files back to Shopify.
Before you begin
Make sure you can access the Shopify store as a staff member with permission to install apps and approve app permissions. If the store owner controls app installs, ask them to approve the installation first.
It also helps to have one product ready with clear images, a readable title, and accurate pricing.
Install from Shopify
- Open the PufferCut listing in the Shopify App Store.
- Choose the store where you want to install PufferCut.
- Review the requested permissions.
- Approve the installation.
- Open PufferCut from Shopify admin > Apps.
When merchants usually install a product video app
PufferCut is the best fit when you want to:
- turn product photos into product-page video faster
- preview the result before rendering
- keep product titles, prices, and brand defaults inside the workflow
- create more repeatable PDP, ad, and social cuts without editing each asset manually
If you are still deciding between app categories, read Shopify product video apps: what merchants should compare before installing.
What you should see after install
After opening PufferCut, you should be able to:
- view your billing or plan status
- open the editor
- search or browse Shopify products
- choose a product with media
- preview a video draft before rendering
If the product selector is empty, confirm that the store has products with media and that PufferCut has product permissions.
Permissions PufferCut uses
PufferCut uses product and file permissions to read product details, upload finished videos, and attach videos to product pages when that option is used.
Read Shopify permissions PufferCut uses for a plain-language breakdown.
Good first product
Choose a product that already has:
- at least one clear product image
- accurate price information
- a shopper-friendly title
- enough visual detail to make a short video useful
Products with multiple clear images usually produce better templates because the editor has more visual material to work with.
Common installation mistakes
- installing on the wrong Shopify store
- expecting the app to create strong output from weak or missing product media
- skipping the permissions review and later wondering why product-page publishing does not work
- starting with a complex product instead of a simple first test product
If the app does not open
Try refreshing Shopify admin, checking that the app is installed on the correct store, and confirming your staff permissions. If it still does not open, see troubleshoot app access.
